Why My Fashion & Music Background Gives You an Edge in Branding Photography
My first-ever album cover when I was living in London was KT Tunstall. At the time, she was an unknown singer-songwriter; little did I know that, twenty years on, I still hear her music played everywhere!
When I first started as a photographer, I worked in the fashion and music industries — two worlds full of creativity, personality, and a little chaos. I photographed artists, stylists, models, and musicians who all had one thing in common: they wanted to be seen in a way that matched who they truly were. That experience shaped everything about how I shoot today. Now, when I photograph business owners, creatives, and women building their personal brands, I bring that same eye for storytelling, emotion, and presence. Because your portraits should do more than look professional — they should make people feel something.
When people think of LinkedIn photos or personal branding portraits, they often imagine something corporate, clean, and safe. But in reality, if you want to look elevated, memorable, and authentic, you need a photographer who knows how to bring out more than just a polished smile.
That’s where my background gives you an edge.
Before specialising in branding photography, I spent years shooting in the fashion and music industries — from magazine covers to album artwork. Those worlds taught me to craft imagery that tells a story, captures energy, and evokes emotions in people. And that’s exactly what I bring into every branding session I shoot today.
Because branding isn’t about just looking professional. It’s about presence. It’s about creating an image that reflects the essence of who you are and what your business stands for — whether that’s confidence, creativity, strength, or warmth.
In the fashion world, lighting, posing, and styling are everything; in music, emotion and authenticity rule. I’ve learned how to blend those two worlds — crafting portraits that look refined and editorial, yet still feel natural and alive.
So if you’re updating your LinkedIn headshot, refreshing your personal branding, or building an image library for your business, don’t settle for standard.
If you want to look elevated, hire a photographer who knows how to see you through a creative lens.
That’s my edge.
