01
THE PRACTICAL THINGS
Booking your session
Let’s make the first step simple. Here’s what to know before you choose a session or get in touch.
-
I offer a few different options depending on what you need, from simple headshot updates through to full branding sessions and commercial photography. If you’re unsure what’s right for you, send me a message and we’ll work it out together. I’d much rather recommend the right session than sell you something you don’t need.
-
Start by booking a call or sending an enquiry. We’ll talk through what you need, where the images will be used and which session will give you the best result. Once we choose a date, your booking is secured with the required deposit.
-
I’m based in Sydney and photograph people all over the city. Some sessions happen in the studio, some at your workplace, some at your favourite café and some wandering through the streets. The location depends on you and the story you want your photos to tell.
-
Katie to confirm: where she travels, whether interstate sessions are available and how travel fees are handled.
02
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT ALONE
Before your shoot
The best photos begin before the camera comes out. We’ll plan the details together so your session feels like you.
-
Wear something that feels like you on your best day. The biggest mistake people make is buying an outfit they would never normally wear because they think it looks “professional.” Your photos should feel authentic, not like you’re dressed as someone else.
-
Absolutely. I’m always happy to help with outfit choices before your session so the colours, shapes and layers work together and still feel like you.
-
Yes. For styled portrait sessions, I work with Madeleine Park, who helps clients choose outfits that make them feel amazing. People often walk into their session already standing a little taller.
-
You don’t have to, but I highly recommend it. It isn’t about looking like someone else. It is about looking like you after a really good night’s sleep.
-
If I had a dollar for every time someone said this before a shoot… Honestly, most of my clients feel exactly the same. You are not expected to know how to pose, where to put your hands or what to do with your face. That is my job.
03
RELAXED, GUIDED AND VERY HUMAN
During the shoot
There is no “just act natural” followed by silence. I’ll guide you through the entire experience.
-
We chat. We laugh. We walk. We take breaks. Somewhere amongst all that, I’ll quietly guide you into photographs you’ll actually love. Most clients tell me afterwards that it felt more like catching up with a friend than having professional photos taken.
-
Every single step. I’ll show you where to stand, what to do with your hands, where to look, when to move and even how to smile without it feeling forced. Tiny movements make beautiful portraits.
-
Every session is a little different. Some people need a handful of portraits. Others need enough content for their website, LinkedIn, speaking profile and social media for the next year. We’ll choose the session that fits what you actually need.
-
Yes. Depending on the session, we can work in a studio, at your workplace, at home or outdoors, and build variety through a few well-chosen outfits and backgrounds.
“You don’t need confidence before your photoshoot. You just need someone who knows how to bring it out of you.”
This full-width statement gives the page an editorial pause and reinforces Katie’s key point of difference.
04
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
After the shoot
Your images should be easy to understand, easy to use and still look unmistakably like you.
-
Katie to confirm: the standard delivery timeframe, whether previews are supplied and how the gallery is delivered.
-
Yes. Branding sessions are designed to give you versatile images for your website, LinkedIn, Instagram, podcast interviews, speaking events and marketing. Larger commercial campaigns may require separate usage terms.
-
Yes—but you will still look like you. I smooth temporary things such as the odd blemish, but I do not believe in making people look plastic. I want you to think, “That is exactly how I hoped I’d look.”
05
CHOOSING THE RIGHT KIND OF SHOOT
Branding photography
A branding session gives your audience more than a face. It gives them a sense of who you are, what you do and what it feels like to work with you.
-
A headshot gives you one or two strong portraits. A branding session gives you a whole library of images for your website, LinkedIn, Instagram, podcast interviews, speaking events and marketing. If your business is you, branding photography often gives you far more value.
-
I photograph business owners, professionals, creatives, authors, speakers, performers, teams and people stepping into a new chapter. The common thread is wanting photographs that feel natural, confident and genuinely like them.
-
Katie to confirm: team sizes, on-site options, consistency for staff headshots and how corporate quotes work.
06
CONFIDENCE IS NOT A PREREQUISITE
Camera confidence
You do not need to arrive confident. My job is to create the conditions that help confidence appear naturally.
-
Usually because they are thinking too hard about the camera. When you feel watched, you can become tense and overly aware of your face, hands and posture. Clear direction and small movements give your mind something useful to focus on.
-
Sometimes it is unfamiliarity, sometimes self-criticism and sometimes no one has shown us how to relax in front of a camera. A single photograph is not an objective verdict on how you look.
-
Yes. Confidence is not something you either have or do not have. It grows when you feel safe, relaxed and know you are in good hands.
-
Yes. Guidance is woven into every session, and Katie also offers camera-confidence coaching and personalised photo feedback for people who want support without booking a full shoot.
