Everything you need to know before your branding photoshoot.
Booking a branding photoshoot is exciting... But it can also feel a little overwhelming.
What should you wear?
What if you hate having your photo taken?
How many images will you receive?
What actually happens on the day?
These are the questions I get asked all the time. Hopefully you'll find your answer here. And if not, get in touch. I'm always happy to help.

01
THE PRACTICAL THINGS
Booking your session
Let’s make the first step simple. Here’s what to know before you choose a session or get in touch.
-
Every business is different, so there's no one-size-fits-all package.
Branding photography sessions start at $880 for a one-hour session and range up to $6,600 for larger corporate projects, including team and workplace photography.
If you're not sure what you need, that's completely okay.
We'll have a chat first. Once I understand your business and what you're hoping to achieve, I'll recommend the session that's right for you.
-
It's easy.
Simply get in touch through my website or send me an email.
We'll chat about your business, where you'll be using your images and the type of session that will suit you best.
Once we've chosen a date, I'll guide you through everything you need to know before your photoshoot.
-
I'm based in Sydney and photograph clients all across Sydney and interstate.
Some sessions happen in beautiful natural-light studios; others take place in offices, cafés, or outdoors.
The best location is the one that feels like you and reflects your business.
If you're not sure where that is, I'll help you decide.
-
Absolutely.
I regularly photograph clients throughout Greater Sydney and also travel interstate for branding and corporate photography.
If travel costs apply, we'll chat about them before you book, so there are no surprises.
-
Business owners.
Professionals.
Creatives.
Authors.
Executives.
Entrepreneurs.
Teams.
And people who simply want photographs that finally feel like them.
Whether you're building a personal brand or representing a larger business, I'll create images that reflect who you are and what you do.
-
Yes.
From solo business owners to large organisations, I photograph teams, workplaces, and the people behind the business.
Whether you need professional headshots, workplace imagery, or a complete branding library, I'll tailor the session to suit your business.
-
Of course.
Great branding photography isn't about gender.
It's about creating photographs that feel natural, confident, and authentic to the person in front of the camera.
Every session is tailored to you.
-
Because I care just as much about how you feel as how you look.
Anyone can buy a camera.
What I've spent the last 22 years learning is how to help people stop worrying about the camera.
That's why so many of my clients tell me they actually enjoyed having their photo taken, which is something they never imagined saying.
-
Every business is different, so every session is too.
I offer one-hour, two-hour, and full-day branding sessions.
Some people need a handful of fresh headshots.
Others need enough content for a new website, LinkedIn, social media, speaking events, and marketing.
We'll work out exactly what you need together.
02
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT ALONE
Before your shoot
Most people don't book a branding photoshoot because they love being in front of the camera.
Usually it's the opposite.
If you're wondering what to wear, worried you'll feel awkward, or have no idea what to expect, you're in exactly the right place.
-
Definitely.
In fact, it's probably the thing I hear most often before a session.
The good news?
You don't have to love having your photo taken to end up with photographs you love.
My job is to help you feel relaxed enough to forget about the camera altogether.
-
Yes... although it probably won't feel like posing.
I won't ask you to stand awkwardly or force uncomfortable smiles.
Instead, I'll guide you through simple movements and natural interactions that create photographs that feel relaxed, genuine, and like you.
-
Wear something that feels like you.
The best outfit is one that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and like the best version of yourself.
If you're choosing between what's fashionable and what feels authentic, choose authentic every time.
-
Please do.
Different outfits create more variety and give you images for your website, LinkedIn, social media, and marketing.
We'll chat beforehand about how many outfits make sense for your session.
-
Yes.
If you'd like a little extra help, I can recommend a stylist who'll help you choose outfits that suit your personality, business, and brand.
-
You don't have to, but I highly recommend it.
Professional hair and makeup isn't about changing how you look.
It's about helping you feel polished, confident, and camera-ready while still looking like yourself.
-
Absolutely.
I work with some wonderful hair and makeup artists and can recommend someone depending on the look you're after.
If you'd prefer to organise your own, Mecca also does a fabulous job.
-
A little preparation goes a long way.
Before your shoot, we'll chat about your business, goals, locations, outfits, and where your images will be used.
That way, when the day arrives, you can simply relax and enjoy the experience.
03
RELAXED, GUIDED, AND VERY HUMAN
During the shoot
This is where the magic happens.
Most people arrive feeling a little nervous.
Most people leave saying...
"That was actually really fun!"
-
The first few minutes are all about settling in.
We'll have a chat, ease into things, and get comfortable before we even think about creating the perfect photograph.
From there, I'll guide you through everything.
We'll laugh, move around, try different locations, and create a huge variety of natural photographs.
You'll never be left wondering what to do.
-
I currently offer one-hour, two-hour, and full-day branding sessions.
The right option depends entirely on what you need.
We'll chat beforehand and choose the session that best suits your business.
-
Absolutely.
Some of my favourite branding sessions happen outdoors.
Whether that's a favourite café, your local neighborhood, the beach, or somewhere connected to your business, the right location adds personality to your photographs.
-
If we're shooting outdoors, I keep a close eye on the weather.
I usually place a weather hold on the day before and after your session, giving us flexibility if the forecast changes.
If we need to adjust plans, I'll be in touch well before your shoot.
-
Yes.
Using multiple locations creates more variety and helps tell a bigger story about your business.
We'll plan everything beforehand so the day flows easily.
-
Of course.
If having a friend, partner, or colleague there helps you feel more comfortable, they're very welcome.
-
Yes.
We'll plan these before your shoot so everything runs smoothly on the day.
“You don’t need confidence before your photoshoot. You just need someone who knows how to bring it out of you.”
04
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
After the shoot
You've done the hard part.
Now it's my turn.
-
Your gallery will be ready within 7 business days.
Every image is carefully edited before delivery, so they're ready for you to start using straight away.
-
Your finished images are delivered via a Dropbox download link.
Simply download them to your computer and you'll be ready to start using them immediately.
-
Probably more than you're expecting!
I don't believe in making you choose from a tiny gallery.
After your session, I remove blinks, duplicates, and anything that doesn't meet my standard.
Then I deliver all of the beautiful, usable images from your session.
Most clients are pleasantly surprised by how many photographs they receive.
-
Absolutely.
Use them on your website, LinkedIn, social media, email newsletters, podcasts, presentations, speaking engagements, and marketing materials.
If your images are published commercially, such as in a magazine, book, or album artwork, I'd really appreciate a photography credit where possible.
-
Every image receives my signature editing, including colour grading and finishing.
I don't automatically retouch skin or reshape bodies because I want you to look like yourself on your very best day, not like someone else entirely.
If you'd like additional retouching, that's available for $33 per image (including GST).
-
Choosing favourites is often the hardest part!
If you're deciding between a few images or aren't sure which photographs will work best for your website or LinkedIn, I'm always happy to help.
05
CHOOSING THE RIGHT KIND OF SHOOT
Branding photography
A branding session gives your audience more than a face. It gives them a sense of who you are, what you do and what it feels like to work with you.
-
A headshot is one great photograph.
Branding photography tells your whole story.
Along with beautiful portraits, we'll create photographs of you working, interacting with clients, using your products or services, and showing the personality behind your business.
-
People connect with people.
Before someone enquires, they've usually spent time looking at your website and social media.
Professional branding photography helps people know you, trust you, and feel confident about working with you before you've even met.
-
That depends on your business.
Before your session, we'll chat about where your photographs will be used so we create images with purpose, not just a gallery full of pretty pictures.
-
Absolutely.
With a little planning, one session can provide enough content for your website, LinkedIn, newsletters, social media and marketing for months to come.
-
Every one to two years is a good guide.
If your business has changed, you've launched something new, or your current photographs no longer feel like you, it's probably time.
-
We'll choose somewhere that reflects both you and your business.
We'll also chat about your personality, your audience and the story you want your photographs to tell, so every location has a purpose.
-
I completely understand.
But if you're the face of your business, people want to know who they're working with.
Professional photographs help people connect with you long before you meet.
That connection often becomes the reason they choose you.
-
Beautiful photographs are lovely.
But that's not the real value.
The real value is having professional images that consistently represent your business wherever people find you.
Trust grows when your brand looks consistent.
-
If you're waiting until you've lost weight, feel more confident or finally stop feeling awkward in photos...
Please don't.
You don't need to arrive feeling confident.
You just need to arrive.
I'll help with the rest.
06
CONFIDENCE IS NOT A PREREQUISITE
Camera confidence
If there's one thing I want you to know, it's this...
You don't have to be photogenic.
You don't need to know how to pose.
And you certainly don't need to feel confident before your photoshoot.
That's what I'm here for.
-
Because having a camera pointed at you isn't something most people do every day.
Feeling awkward doesn't mean you'll look awkward.
It simply means you're doing something unfamiliar.
Once you relax, your photographs change too.
-
We're usually our own biggest critics.
We notice tiny things no one else ever sees.
My job is to create photographs that help you see yourself the way everyone else already does.
-
Absolutely.
Confidence isn't something you're born with.
It's something that grows when you feel comfortable, supported and know you're in good hands.
-
I do.
Helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera has been at the heart of my work for more than 22 years.
By the end of almost every session, clients tell me they'd forgotten the camera was even there.
That's exactly what I'm aiming for.
-
I genuinely believe they can.
Looking good in photographs isn't about being naturally photogenic.
It's about feeling relaxed, being guided well and trusting the person behind the camera.
-
You're not the first person to tell me that.
And you certainly won't be the last.
I've photographed hundreds of people who arrived convinced they weren't photogenic, only to leave with photographs they genuinely loved.
Sometimes all it takes is someone who knows how to help you feel like yourself.
-
I don't think so.
Most people who look natural in photographs simply feel comfortable.
And that's something we can create together.
-
Don't wait.
Don't wait until you've lost weight.
Don't wait until you feel more confident.
Don't wait until everything is perfect.
You don't need to arrive feeling confident.
You just need to arrive.
I'll help with the rest.
-
If there's something I haven't covered here, I'd love to hear from you.
No question is too small.
Get in touch, and let's chat about creating photographs that feel like you.
